z Stretch Urban Wood

Galbraith Carnahan Architects was pleased to be invited to participate in the 2013 Urban Wood Encounter this summer. The competition is held annually to highlight the urban wood industry as an alternative to traditional harvesting of natural forests. By using diseased or unwanted street trees the urban wood movement seeks to lessen our impact on the hardwood resources of our region. Galbraith Carnahan constructed a dining room credenza out of elm for the show. The finished piece measured approximately 6 feet long x 18 inches deep x 3 feet high. The show kicked off in late July with a reception at Design Within Reach, which was followed by an exhibit at the Delafield Arts Center. The credenza now comfortably resides in Joe Galbraith’s dining room.
