Galbraith Carnahan Architects office sign

American Dream TV: Design To Preserve

This is the interesting story of Galbraith Carnahan Architects and how they repurposed a log cabin for their current office. Joe and Nick are two amazing architects and designers who do amazing things in and around Milwaukee.

GCA had been outgrowing its former studio space when it acquired a vacant lot with plans to construct a new building for their growing studio. While making plans for a new building, a unique opportunity presented itself to partners, Joe Galbraith and Nick Carnahan. A local developer was planning an apartment project nearby, but had a Log Cabin style office building located on his site. With initial plans to bulldoze the structure, the community cried out to save the building. In an effort to please both the preservation minded community and politicians, the developer offered to move the structure to anyone who would take and restore the building. The timing could not have been more perfect for GCA to enter.
