Tosa Log Cabin

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Developer Plans To Donate Log Cabin To Galbraith Carnahan Architects

In what could be a compromise solution in Wauwatosa, developer Chris Houden announced on April 17 that he plans to donate the log cabin to a Wauwatosa architectural firm to be used for additional office space on North Avenue. Houden has promised to pay the cost to relocate the cabin.

Although there a lot of hurdles to cross, the move might pacify some Tosa residents who wanted to preserve the historic building, and it could allow Houden to follow through on plans to build an apartment building on the Wauwatosa Avenue site where the cabin currently sits. It would also allow a Tosa architect to expand as planned in its preseent location, and become the steward of the iconic building.

“This opportunity would bring new life to this building as an office for Galbraith Carnahan Architects. The relocation of this structure to a nearby lot that GCA already owns will allow GCA to stay in the City in a unique and meaningful way,” Houden said.
