Lapham Lodge Grand Opening

After more than a year of design and construction and even more time spent imagining what this place could be, the new Lapham Lodge at Lapham Peak is ready to open its doors.

The official opening on May 17 feels like a milestone, but for us, the most meaningful part is just beginning, seeing people step inside, warm up by the fireplace, take in the view from the patio, and head out onto the trails. That’s what this has always been about: creating a space that brings people closer to nature.

The human experience shapes our approach to architecture. We design places that feel welcoming, intuitive, and connected to the landscape. With Lapham Lodge, we wanted to build something that didn’t just sit in the forest but belonged there. A place that felt natural and necessary without overpowering the beauty around it.

The lodge includes a central gathering area with a fireplace, a multipurpose room, and a covered outdoor patio that looks out toward the trailhead. It’s not flashy or oversized; it’s built to support the daily moments that happen in state parks: meeting up with friends, taking a break after a hike, sitting quietly, and watching the seasons shift.

This project wouldn’t exist without the Friends of Lapham Peak, their vision, and the continued support from the Wisconsin DNR. We’re grateful to have had the chance to contribute to a place so many people already care about.

May 17 is a celebration, but we’re really excited about what happens next when this building starts to do what it was made to do quietly.
