Exterior Building Design
Rooted in a bluff overlooking an active stone quarry, the existing 1970s cast-in-place concrete structure gave the impression of a Cold War-era bunker rather than an office building. A section of the existing pyramid roof and riprap landscaping were removed to form a new raised exterior terrace. A natural stone veneer retaining wall and planter bed are buffers between the terrace and the adjacent parking lot. A new cedar and steel pergola and a pair of knee-height, sandblasted concrete walls extend into the existing parking lot to greet those arriving at the building, along with many more moves to elevate the space.
