69th Street Center

Location: Wauwatosa, Wisconsin
Size: 1/6 acre
Program: Public Space

In the summer of 2014, the City of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin issued a request for proposal to convert an existing city parking lot into a pocket park.  GCA responded to the request with an engaging design that developed from careful study of the site, incorporating key objectives from the district Master Plan.

Our design team developed six Patterns and design vignettes that conveyed a strong sense of place for this vital Center in the East Tosa Neighborhood.  The proposal demonstrated a design process where the final outcome was not pre-determined but would unfold in conjunction with the public and city officials through meetings and forums.

The GCA proposal was selected as a finalist but was not awarded the project.
