Being asked to assist a growing company’s first move from a lease space into a building that they have purchased is a special privilege. GCA had this privilege when Waseen Inc. owners approached us to lead them through the process of converting what was essentially an empty warehouse building into a Biotech office, laboratory and production facility. The company produces probiotic bacteria that is sold to firms that make animal feed, probiotic supplements for people, wastewater treatment systems and other products. Our team worked closely with the key stakeholders at Waseen to lay out the facility and equipment to not only fit within the confines of the existing structure, but to enhance their workflow and increase productivity and regulation compliance. In the office space we exposed the structure and polished the concrete floors to create a sense of space and light. The production rooms are designed to comply with industry regulations and include epoxy floors, washable wall and ceiling surfaces, and temperature and humidity controls. Collaborating with this company to increase their ability to produce products and in turn create jobs in the City of Milwaukee’s Northwest side has been a very fulfilling process.
